Trinity Bellwoods Engagement: Pizza, Pints & Film

Trinity Bellwoods is hands down one of the best neighbourhoods in Toronto. When Tasha and Marco said they wanted their engagement photos there (aka their stomping grounds) I knew we were in for a treat. These two are the perfect mix of sweet and silly, and adding film to their engagement sessionmade it all the more special. I shot digital too, but for the sake of this post you get a little Kodak Gold and a little Ilford HP5. That probably means nothing to most of you but the geeks will get it.

We wandered through the park, stopped for slices at Bitondo’s (because obviously), and wrapped up the night with drinks at Lucky Shrike. Honestly, a 10/10 date night, and I just happened to be third-wheeling with a camera.

A Love Story in Trinity Bellwoods

Trinity Bellwoods Park is kinda like Toronto’s backyard. We strolled through a section of the park near T&M’s home, dodged some dogs and cell-phone multitaskers, and found a little corner to snap some photos. But that ways just the beginning!

A Quick Bite at Bitondo’s Pizza

If you’ve never had a slice from Bitondo’s, stop reading this and go immediately. Tasha and Marco are regulars, so obviously, we had to include it in their session. Between bites of gloriously greasy, cheesy pizza, they shared inside jokes, clinked their bottles of Brio, and let me capture all the little moments that make their relationship so fun. Nothing says romance like sauce-covered fingers and a shared love for a good slice. Ps. Brio – if you’re reading this, Marco is waiting for his endorsement deal.

Cozy Vibes at Lucky Shrike

After pizza, we made our way to Lucky Shrike, another one of their Trinity Bellwoods faves. The warm lighting and vintage vibes made for the perfect setting to wind down the session. They grabbed their usual drinks, leaned into each other in that, “we’ve been together forever” kind of way, and I snapped away while they laughed about some inside joke or another. It was real, relaxed, and totally them—just the way an engagement session should be.

Why Film Photography Just Hits Different

There’s something about film that digital just can’t replicate. Maybe it’s the rich tones, the soft textures, or the fact that you don’t get to check the back of the camera every two seconds. Whatever it is, it makes every shot feel like a little piece of history. Plus, film forces us to slow down, be intentional, and embrace the beauty of imperfection—kind of like love itself, right? I only shot a little bit of film during this session but I felt like it deserved a permanent place on the blog.
