What’s better than a backyard wedding? How about one on a lake near Orillia? Some weddings just hit different. Naturally stunning setting, relaxed vibes, and a couple that’s all about having fun with the people they love the most? Hannah and Dave’s wedding near Orillia was exactly that. A cozy lakeside ceremony, a home-cooked-feeling (but gourmet tasting) dinner, and a party that went all night. Oh, and perfect weather? Well of course not, but we’ll get to that.
A Lakeside Ceremony with a Dash of Drama
Hannah & Dave got ready in their respective parents’ homes near Orillia, spending the morning with close friends as the rain started and stopped… and started… and stopped. This was the theme of summer 2024 weddings—crazy weather. But like the rest of my darling clients, Hannah & Dave rolled with it! No rain could dampen the mood. In true wedding day fashion, just as the ceremony was set to begin, the clouds parted and the sun finally made her appearance.
They got married at Dave’s parents’ gorgeous home on the lake, with their closest people around. Hannah rocked a lace mini dress that was as effortlessly cool as she is. Bright and bold flowers (which look great on film btw) added to the fun and romantic vibe. The cozy ceremony scored a 10 out of 10 in my book, no notes.
Dinner at Home, but Make It Fancy
After the ceremony, some photos, and amazing hors d’oeuvres, everyone squeezed around a massive dining table in the converted living area. Provenance Wine Bar delivered an unreal meal while a few sweet speeches took place. The cozy family-filled dinner was perfect for these foodies to be able to enjoy their wedding meal without a lot of fuss. Wine flowed, conversations overlapped, and no one wanted to leave the table. The best kind of dinner party.
From Cozy to Full-Blown Party Mode
Now, for round two.
Hannah and Dave wanted to celebrate with more special people, so they threw a second mini-ceremony at the MacLaren Art Centre in Barrie. More guests, more happy tears, and then—bam—the live band kicked in. The gallery turned into a full-on dance party. Art on the walls, music in the air, and people absolutely losing it on the dance floor.
This wedding had it all. Intimate moments, big celebrations, and a little weather-induced suspense. And I got to capture it all on both film and digital.
