Spring engagement sessions always have a special charm to them. There's something about the long evenings and extended "golden hour" that just feels extra magic. When Alicia and Alex suggested that we capture their engagement session at a stunning equestrian facility north of Toronto I just KNEW it was going to be something else! Horses and country-life are special to my sweet couple, and although they live in Toronto they wanted their engagement photos to reflect their love for nature and the country.
I recently replaced my Pentax 645n medium format camera and had been dying to give it a good test run. This engagement session was the perfect opportunity to see how it performed! I ended up capturing our session in both digital and film, I love the way the film handled the bright blue sky and full sun. Shooting a little film helped create warm & nostalgic images that feel like home with a little vintage appeal.
Alicia and Alex are so lovely. They are so sweet, so much fun, and their love for each other just shone through in every shot. They spent our time together laughing, enjoying the horses, and of course getting in some cuddles. Of course they looked gorgeous, how could they not, but the black & white wardrobe with the added nods to western style was perfect for an upscale-rustic vibe.
Dear Alicia & Alex - I'm so extremely grateful to have been a part of your engagement journey. I hope the images we created together will serve as a beautiful reminder of this uniquely special time in your lives. I couldn't be more excited for your wedding this coming weekend. Let's do this again but in suits and white dresses :).
Engagement sessions are a great way to get to know your photographer and also to connect in front of the camera, maybe for the first time. Being photographed can feel intimidating but I promise to make it fun as we keep things casual and free-flowing. Looking for the perfect engagement session spot? Check out this post for some ideas!
