The Brighthouse Farm: A Wedding Venue That Just Feels Right
I photographed my first wedding at The Brighthouse Farm a couple seasons back — Brittany & Justin’s — and I’ve been praying to head back ever since. It’s one of those rare venues that feels instantly calm the moment you arrive. Like you can actually take a breath. And for couples who want something meaningful and classy, but unfussy, it’s such a good fit.
The Brighthouse is tucked into the wine country of Wellington, Ontario, right in the heart of Prince Edward County. It’s surrounded by open meadows, wild forest, and curated little garden pockets that catch the light just right. Brittany and Justin had their ceremony in the back yard of the adorable white farm house — simple, intentional, full of emotion — and the space held that beautifully. Nothing felt rushed or too polished. Just honest, and a little magical.
The barn is another standout. It was thoughtfully built with a balance of rustic charm and clean, modern finishes. It’s not your average barn… trust me. Think high ceilings, warm wood, and soft lighting — without the usual “barn wedding” clichés. It gave their reception this cozy, elevated vibe that felt totally personal. Watching everyone dance there as the sun dipped low was one of those moments I didn’t want to end.
Couples also have the option to get ready on-site, which makes everything feel extra connected. The farmhouse is styled with a blend of mid-century and traditional design — warm, minimal, and functional. I remember Brittany and her friends making coffee in the kitchen, laughing in the front hallway as they did their makeup, her mom wiping away a few quiet tears in the corner of the living room. It all felt so lived-in and real — which is exactly the kind of environment I hope for as a photographer.
What I loved most about this venue is that it doesn’t force a vibe. It gives you space to create something that actually feels like you. If you’re dreaming of a day that’s rooted in connection, surrounded by nature, and grounded in presence — The Brighthouse Farm is worth a look.
It’s not just pretty. It’s peaceful. And that makes all the difference.
From pre-ceremony cottage hangs to vineyard vows, I love photographing weddings in this dreamy part of Ontario. You can check out more of my Prince Edward County wedding work here.
If you’re planning a weekend wedding at The Brighthouse Farm, one of the biggest bonuses is the location itself. Prince Edward County is the kind of place people actually want to spend time in — which makes it easy for your guests to turn your wedding into a little getaway of their own.
The area is full of charming spots to explore. For anyone who enjoys wine, there are several local wineries just a short drive from the venue. Norman Hardie, Sandbanks Estate, and Grange of Prince Edward are some of the favorites — all offering relaxed tastings and beautiful views, perfect for an afternoon wind-down.
On Saturday mornings, the Wellington Farmers’ Market is worth a visit. It’s small but full of local produce, baked goods, handmade pieces, and a laid-back vibe that makes it easy to settle into County life.
If the weather’s good, Sandbanks Provincial Park is always a hit. The beaches are gorgeous — wide, sandy, and great for families or anyone craving some time by the water before or after the wedding.
For food and drink, there’s no shortage of places to enjoy. The Drake Devonshire is ideal for brunch or cocktails with a lakefront view. La Condesa serves up incredible Mexican, Enid Grace Café has cozy coffee and baked goods, and Midtown Brewing Co. is a casual spot for craft beer and conversation.
There are also plenty of little shops and galleries in Wellington, Bloomfield, and Picton for guests who want to wander and browse. From vintage finds to locally made art, it’s easy to spend a few hours exploring without needing a full itinerary.
If your guests are staying overnight, encourage them to book early — especially in peak season. Airbnbs tend to fill up quickly, and boutique spots like The June Motel, Angeline’s, and Merrill House offer unique, comfortable places to stay that still feel relaxed and down-to-earth.
It’s the kind of destination that makes everything feel a little slower, a little more special — the perfect backdrop for a wedding weekend that’s equal parts celebration and connection.
Photography has always been more than just images to me—it’s about holding onto the moments that matter most. The raw, unfiltered bits of life that tell our stories.
My approach is candid, vibey, and unposed whenever possible (don’t worry, I still gently guide your portraits when needed). I believe every emotion—joy, laughter, quiet tears, the big and small—is deeply beautiful and deserves to be remembered.
As your wedding photographer, my job isn’t to stage your love—it’s to witness it, document it, and let it shine in its most authentic form. Because at the end of the day, these aren’t just wedding photos. They’re the moments that will bring you back to exactly how it all felt.
I’m so glad you’re here—I can’t wait to get to know you!
