Sometimes weddings don’t go exactly the way you planned but I believe that with a great attitude (and a great wedding coordinator), the hiccups can eventually become awesome memories. Nik & Christine’s autumn wedding at Islington Golf Club in Toronto was absolutely perfect – hiccups included!
Our day began with rain… so much rain, and no signs of the rain stopping. That would upset even the most reasonable bride, but Christine was calm and collected as she was determined to enjoy every minute. I loved watching her throughout the day – she took moments here and there to stop, close her eyes, and take it all in. I was so beautiful to witness someone make a real effort to be present on such an important day… take note future clients!
Nik wasn’t quite as calm as his counterpart – and with good reason; he’d been tasked with making the final call about the ceremony location. It had rained all day, was cold and misty, and the radar was showing more storm cells about to come through. After much deliberation the decision was made to go ahead as planned with the outdoor ceremony. I have to say I freaking love it when clients brave the elements and go for the ceremony they’d always hoped for! The weather cooperated and the drizzle stopped mere moments before Christine walked down the aisle.
Once the “I Do’s” had been said, Christine & Nik enjoyed some time with their families taking photos before we snuck away to explore the foggy golf course. Our portrait session took a little pause so these two could pop into their cocktail hour for their first dance before their amazing live musicians packed up. We (of course) had to stick around for an extra song when they played an Ed Sheeran Mashup that Christine had requested before heading back outside. The timing couldn’t have been better as the sun peeked out just as we were wrapping up. I believe that great attitudes = good karma and this day was no exception. C&N rolled with the punches, even when the fire alarms rang relentlessly during dinner service. The trucks rolled up and the Toronto Fire Department was kind enough to let us take some photos with them – when life hands you firetrucks, make firetruck photos.
Thank you so much to Christine & Nik for being 100% amazing all day. We absolutely love you guys and are so grateful that you asked us to capture this perfect day. Congrats!!
