Malaparte Wedding Toronto | Annie & Rocco

Annie & Rocco’s Malaparte Wedding in Toronto was as close as they come to perfection. Of course no wedding is perfect. Things don’t always go 100% according to plan; unexpected road construction, poorly functioning air conditioning, and random people walking through your photos will happen. Those things don’t have to make a wedding less perfect, sometimes they just become stories we laugh at later. This day was no exception but Annie & Rocco were an absolute dream to photograph. They were cool & collected all day but let emotions show when the time was right.

We met about 9 years ago when Annie was back in Toronto on summer break from Western and Rocco was enjoying the York University strike of 2009. We met through friends and we became friends too! Rocco proposed in July 2016 while we were on vacation in Italy. After a day of hiking through the Cinque Terre (we were pretty unprepared, we only had half a bottle of water and a plum. We for some reason thought there’d be stands where we could buy more snacks from), we were watching the sunset on a rock in Riomaggiore and Rocco proposed! It was a complete surprise.

We wanted to get married in the city, and looked for somewhere airy with lots of light. Malaparte was perfect as it had lots of light and an out door space. To compliment, we went with lots of greens and neutral colours.

Annie asked her best friends from university to be her bridesmaids, and Rocco asked his cousins and his oldest childhood friends.

We opted to have an unplugged ceremony and it was great! We loved how it encouraged everyone to be more present!

We loved seeing everyone and all the speeches. We could’ve done with less crying ourselves but guess that’s unavoidable. It was really nice to see the years of planning come together! One of our favourite moments was the first dance.

Our best piece of advice for engaged couples is to try to give yourself lots of time to plan so it doesn’t feel as hectic. Don’t under estimate the amount of work that will need to be done the day of, and don’t sweat the small stuff!
