It’s been a hot minute since I’ve had a chance to sit down and create a blog post. There’s been no shortage of wonderful weddings over the past year and truthfully I’m a little overwhelmed by how many are still hiding in my hard drives. Don’t worry, they’ve been delivered to our awesome couples but sharing them with the world has taken some time. I didn’t know where to start or what to post first, so as I do with most of the decisions I make, I went with my gut. Amanda & Danoush’s Drake One Fifty wedding had so much heart & happiness, it just felt right to begin my “fall blogging blitz” with this gem.
This pair of fantastic humans stole my heart at our very first meeting. They were relaxed, funny, warm, and everything you could hope for in a wedding client. I strongly believe that “fit” is so important when it comes to booking your wedding photographer, and from my point of view, everything clicked right away. Amanda & Danoush decided to do things their own way, this is something I truly respect & appreciate.
So, what made their wedding unique? First, they decided to scrap having a wedding party. They wanted to keep things simple, fun, and focused on memories with as little stress as possible. Less people often means less fuss, which leads me to the second thing…. they had a private, intimate ceremony & dinner with only their immediate families before the “party day”. That meant they got to spend extra focused time with their inner circle of family and didn’t get pulled a million different directions. I had the pleasure of photographing this special time as well however you won’t see it below (maybe another time).
Third, they wanted a good damn party! After a private “first look” and some casual portraits around Toronto’s downtown core we arrived at Drake One Fifty so A&D could be present as their guests arrived. They greeted everyone with warm hugs, opted to forego long speeches, and offered a quick, heartfelt toast to get the festivities going at the Drake One Fifty. From start to finish, this day was FUN.
Amanda & Danoush, you two are truly a breath of fresh air! Your joyful spirits made you feel like old friends from the moment we met, and you confirmed my belief that fit is overwhelmingly important. Thank you so much for making me part of your best day ever!
