This day. Wow. I don’t know how to even explain the way this Broadview Hotel Wedding day in Toronto fed my soul. From the first time I met Tricia & Geoff I knew I wanted to work with them but I couldn’t have predicted just how special these two are and how wonderful their wedding day would be. Logistically, downtown Toronto weddings can be a little tricky so naturally I stressed over how this one would go. My amazing Associate Photographer Jo & I made our way into the city on one of the loveliest days this summer could have offered and from the moment we arrived things could not have gone better.
I walked into Tricia’s sister’s home and was met with smiles, hugs, and warm welcomes from everyone. Nobody seemed stressed, nobody was fretting over minor things, everyone was just enjoying each other’s company. I can’t tell you how refreshing that is!!!
The positive vibes during prep time really set the tone for the entire day. We encountered a bit of traffic on the way to the first look photos at Cherry Beach but nothing could rattle Tricia & Geoff who were truly only focused on having a great day. They were calm, joyful, and completely enjoyed every minute. Tricia said several times “I’m having the best day!” which you’d think is normal but it’s actually rare to hear from a bride. I still feel honoured that I got the chance to document this incredible wedding. Thank you so much for having us T&G!!! We love you to the moon and back!

How They Met:
Geoff and I met at a bar in Toronto while he was visiting from England for his friends wedding. My sister and brother in law were part of the pre wedding night out and invited me to tag along. My sister introduced me to a number of people, one of which was Geoff. He thought we were being “introduced” as in set up, and chatted to me for a while before learning I was in a relationship. Over the next year my sister and brother in law teased me about Geoff, even my dad got involved! A few months after becoming single, I flew to England for a long weekend to see my sis and bro in law and asked them to invite Geoff out. We hit it off right away and talked till 4 am. A month later Geoff was on his way back to Toronto, this time to see me and we decided to keep things going, long distance style. The rest, as they say, is history.

Wedding Day Inspiration:
So many!!! We were slightly on the bike path near cherry beach and a grumpy old man yelled at us to get off the path! We all laughed it off. Later, during sunset photos, as we walked out onto Queen and Broadview, all the bikers in the area started ringing their bells and congratulating us, telling us how great we looked. It was pure joy. It’s a memory we will never forget.
We did our first look before the ceremony so we could participate in the cocktail hour right after we were married. Jo, the second shooter found a killer spot deep in the woods at cherry beach that just felt so romantic. As I was coming up towards geoff, leaping over rocks to get to a path I was giggling with excitement. Geoff says he loved that moment, hearing me and knowing I was there before he even saw me.
As I was waiting to walk down the aisle, I was listening to the music we had chosen for the amazing 3 piece jazz band to play. We had listened to it a million times before the wedding and it just felt so much better hearing it live.
