One of my absolute favourite things is when couples choose an engagement shoot location that has special meaning to them – for John and Victoria that meant a Beaches engagement in Toronto. These adorable creatures live in the bustling Beaches neighbourhood and thought exploring the area would be a great way to remember a place that had so much meaning to them in this phase of their life together. I completely agreed and I think they’ll love reminiscing on their time here one day years from now when they’ve moved on. John and Victoria have a sweet and slightly hyper rescue puppy named Boston (named for the city where they got engaged…awwww) so she naturally needed to include in the shoot. I fell in love with her as she chewed my hand while we got ready to leave the house. As you may know I have a soft spot for black shelter dogs – you can see plenty of my own mutt on my Instagram Stories or Snapchat ;). But back to Victoria & John. We strolled Queen Street, made our way through a park, and then onto the beach for dusk. The sky was full of amazing clouds and the gentlest wind kept hair blowing as we chased the light down the beach.
I had the best time hanging out with these two! Shooting couples who are totally at ease together makes my job so simple, J&V were no exception. I definitely think that being in their element helped and that’s part of the reason I always recommend that my clients choose their own engagement shoot location. My time in the Beaches with new friends was a dream – I CANNOT wait for their Polmenna Barn wedding in Campbellford this coming summer. I know it’s going to be amazing, how could it not be with these guys at the centre of it! xo
